Yeah Yeah I know the Nikon D90 is far from being new, but since Nikon was kind enough to let us play for a week with their DSLR and since I never had the chance to even touch one before, well I decided that it would be worth for all to check this baby out and to write a little review about it.

Nikon D90 Specs
- AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor ED 18-200mm F3.5-5.6G (IF) lens with optical image stabilizer
- 12.3 Megapixel resolution
- DX-format CMOS image sensor
- HD 720/24p with HDMI output
- ISO Range : 100 to 6400

Nikon D90, the Review, HDTV

First Impression
Has a heavy user of CANON DSLRs, it is always a bit difficult to jump on another DSLR (whatever brand it is), and you know, after many years using the same brand you tend to build some bounds difficult to break… However, I must admit that I was amazed by the D90… Yeah really, the Nikon D90 has Nothing to be ashamed of compare to a 40D or 50D.
Once you get used to the Nikon Grip and your hands learned how to hold it(Yep this is an important factor in choosing a DSLR), the D90 feel like a powerful weapon ready to shoot a will… With an excellent built quality on different domain like the obvious selection of material but also with its overall ergonomic and with a brilliantly informative LCD monitor, the D90 provides you only what other high ends models offers.
Just to give you 2 little examples, the first is with the large LCD, and more exactly with the huge amount of information that it can provide and more precisely with the Battery meter icon, which is deadly accurate. Rather then being divided in 2 or 3 different marks, the D90 offers 5 in total, this may sound stupid for some, but as far as I am concerned, I loved the fact to know exactly how much battery I have left in my camera when I am shooting for a long period of time.
Another very convenient feature is the quick settings resets that can be operate directly from the camera body without the need to go trough all the camera menu. Just press for a few second the 2 control button marked with a green dot and VOILA ! Your camera is back to default, perfect if you happen to be like I am still a bit lost in some setting or if you happen to share your camera with other people who love to mess around with your settings… (This feature is also available on different Nikon Cameras, and not only the D90)

Let’s Shoot baby
Now that our hands learned how to grab this D90, and once we set the different setting we like, it is time to shoot at like a maniac. Here as well I have been surprised by the D90, and the first one was how fast this camera is… I mean REALLY fast, faster then a Canon 40D… Once you set your camera with the correct ISO, Shutter speed and so on, you will be amazed to see how snappy the D90 can be… Another surprised came for how easy it is too shoot in low light at ISO 200 for example… Has you will see below and with our Photo Sample, a dawn and ISO 200 whether you are holding the camera or not, the result is pretty impressive.
Now it is also important to notice that the quality of your picture and will not only depends of the D90 itself, granted I am a genius, sorry an master Artist in photography (Just kidding here ), but it is very important to get the proper lens to fit on your D90. For instance, our camera was fitted with the following lens : AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor ED 18-200mm F3.5-5.6G (IF) lens with optical image stabilizer giving better pictures that the usual DX 18-105G VR kit.
The same apply if you start using Tamron or Sigma lenses.

Anyway just check by yourself the sample picture I took with the D90, and you will be also impressed by this baby. Just to give you an idea, I was in ISO 200 in daylight and ISO 320 at night (around 7Pm in Japan)…

Nikon D90 Sample Photo for Review, Origianl Size, Resized sample can be found below.
Yep not much to say, I am definitively impressed and in love with the D90, giving great shot it is very hard for me, a Canon power User to be able to criticize the D90 in this very area.
